Many cell therapies incorporate a genetic modification step. For example, the introduction of a CAR construct into T Cells and into CAR T products. There are numerous methods to the introduction of cargo into a cell. One such method is the viral approach, utilizing lentivirus, retrovirus, or adenovirus to deliver the genetic cargo. These inactivated viruses are often produced using workhorse cells such as HEK 293. Viral particles are then purified and stored for future use as a transport mechanism for the genetic construct.
